Chomp was founded in 1999 by dog lovers, sisters and design professionals Sarah Speare and Lesley Lutyens. The first products to be introduced were Yip Yap bone-shaped breath fresheners for dogs (2001) in the classic “mint” tins and the Sniffers chewy dog treats in single serve bags. The novelty and impulse nature of the products gave the company instant national distribution. Stories of chewed up tins, new bedtime rituals, and more motivated training sessions started rolling in on a daily basis. Next came Pit’r Pat little fish-shaped treats for cats (2003), and with them the discovery that cat owners are even more fanatical than dog owners when they find a treat that their cats like! Pit’r Pat was duly dubbed “Kitty Krack” by many an addict. More recently, the Sniffers line expanded with the innovative Sniffers101 all natural training bits with calming herbs (2006), Sniffers LifeStages specially formulated all natural treats for puppy, adult and senior dogs, and Sniffers Shake-Ins dry, all natural meal enhancers that are shaken over a dog’s food for much improved taste (2007). Similar expansions are in the works with the Yip Yap and Pit’r Pat brands. From the start the founders built a team of professionals so that Chomp's products could be available to dog and cat lovers throughout the world.
